Peter Facinelli, while promoting the release of Loosies, spoke to The Wall Street Journal about his work and his future plans, and one of the subjects to come up during that discussion was the prospect of him directing films in the near future.

Facinelli, of course, has done just about everything else there is to do in the film world – other than perhaps working as a grip or on the lighting crew. He wrote, produced, and starred in Loosies, and he has written other scripts in the past as well.

He also directed the College Humor skit he did with Twilight Saga co-star Nikki Reed last year.

So, sitting in the director’s chair seems like the plausible next time.

I would like to direct in the future. I directed some shorts for College Humor and I have worked with so many directors. I’ve done over 40 films and TV projects so at a certain point I know how to tell a story. The first attempt was writing. Now I’ve taken on being a producer. Next, it’s the final challenge, directing.

Peter Facinelli took some time out of his very busy days to have a live Facebook chat session with fans for the National Parks Foundation. Peter answered a huge variety of questions from Twilight to energy conservation and pretty much everything else under the sun. Check it out below:

What is the best part of being part of the twilight saga??

Peter Facinelli: The fans are really great. They’ve been really supportive and I appreciate all of them.

How are you and carlisle similar and different?

Peter Facinelli: I like to think I have his passion. Carlisle is the head of a family. I have children so I can relate. I don’t have blond hair and he’s an older soul than I am. I also don’t wear cardigan sweaters in real life.

What will you miss most now that you are finishing the Twilight Saga?

Peter Facinelli: I don’t know, I’m not sure because it hasn’t sunk in that’s it’s over yet. Even though filming is pretty much over there are still two more films coming out. What I won’t miss is shooting in the rain and mud!

Love you as Carlisle. What’s the best way to get started doing stuff outdoors on a tight budget?

Peter Facinelli: The national parks are a great place to start – they’re not that expensive. We own the parks because we pay taxes and the parks are right in our backyard. I would go visit a national park and explore. Borrow a tent if you have to. It a lot of fun. This week it’s free to visit a national park because it’s National Park Week!

What is one of the funniest things that has happened on set of one of the Twilight movies?

Peter Facinelli: We were shooting a big stand-off sequence between the Volturi’s and the Cullen’s and it was a crazy experience because we had 100 people going through hair and makeup in the morning. One of the actors thought it would be funny if we had a dance off. We didn’t tell the director and when they yelled action we broke out in dance. It could end up on the DVD extras.

What was your motivation for starting your own production company, Facinelli Films, and creating your own films?

You know I had a couple of films that I had written and I thought it was time to get them off the ground. I wrote a television movie for the Hallmark Channel that aired last month and that my wife [Jennie Garth] starred in called Accidentally in Love and it did really well in the ratings so I was really happy about that. Loosies was the second movie that I had written and we shot it last August and are now in the middle of post-production.

To be able to create something and give other people a job and have the whole crew working on something that was just an idea in your head, that was very exciting for me.

You mentioned that you are in the middle of shooting Breaking Dawn, is it a bittersweet feeling to know that the Twilight Saga is coming to a close?

Yeah. I mean, we’re so busy working that I don’t think that we’ve wrapped our heads around the fact that it’s ending soon. We still have another month to go so right now we’re just knee-deep in the work of it. I haven’t really given much thought to it being over. Even when it’s over, the films will be coming out over the next two years so I’ll still see everybody.

Did it ever cross your mind that the Twilight Saga and Nurse Jackie would become so successful when you saw read the first script?

No, I never have any control over whether it’s successful or not. When you’re an actor you come in and you do your part and then you hope that everyone puts it together and people like it. You have very limited control. With Twilight and Nurse Jackie I enjoyed the characters and I was excited to be able to play the characters, but I had no idea if they were going to be successful or not and I’m very pleased that they were.

I think that’s why in producing and writing as well that gives me a little bit more control over the project so I can see it all the way through form beginning to the end.

Looks like Peter Facinelli is joining the other vampires and asking for your blood… for a good cause of course.

“There’s an irony in a vampire asking for your blood,” said Peter Facinelli, perhaps better known as Dr. Carlisle Cullen of the blockbuster film “Twilight” and “The Twilight Saga.”

“I always think it’s a good fit,” Facinelli said.

On March 5, from noon to 5 p.m., Facinelli will visit Quaker Bridge Mall to spend time with fans and promote two charitable organizations focusing on two distinct causes: Alex’s Lemonade Stand for Childhood Cancer and the Community Blood Council of NJ for emergency blood supplies.

Facinelli will spend the day in the mall’s lower level center court for a meet-and-greet and autograph session, as well as a “Twilight”-inspired blood drive, which will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. just outside of Sears.

Film Fetish is bringing us an article today looking at a project Peter has been working on and will begin shooting after Breaking Dawn wraps. Peter has written and is set to star in El Chico Blanco a story that take us into the underground of a crime family. Read more below:

Titan Worldwide Chairman and CEO Brad Feinstein has announced it will begin shooting the controversial crime epic El Chico Blanco, on location in New Mexico, in June of this year.

El Chico Blanco tells the story of Ben Harper, a white outcast raised in the barrio, who ascends to a position of power against all odds. During a stint in prison, Harper overcomes racial tension and bias to become the head of a notorious crime family, entering into a world of drugs, wealth, and power.

The film was scripted & will star Peter Facinelli (Twilight Saga, Nurse Jackie) and will be directed by Carl Franklin (Out of Time, High Crimes). This is the third film that Facinelli has written. His first, Loosie’s, (which he also stars in) is currently in post-production. In addition to playing the lead role of Ben Harper, Facinelli’s production company Facinelli Films will serve as co-producers on El Chico Blanco.

Entertainment Tonight is covering the backstory on how the Hallmark Channel film “Accidentally in Love”, written by Peter Facinelli, came about. Read more below:

“Peter Facinelli has his three daughters with Jennie Garth to thank for the inspiration behind “Accidentally in Love,” the romantic Valentine’s Day tale he wrote for his wife of 10 years.

“I originally wrote this script for maybe me and my wife to play it, but then I got a little busy. I was doing press on ['The Twilight Saga:] Eclipse’ at the time it was shooting, and I had no time to act in the film,” Peter says. “I also worried that this would become the Jennie Garth/Peter Facinelli movie instead of a film with two characters. Our playing together could have detracted from the believability of the story and become a distraction. So I took a step back and let my wife kiss someone else.”

We asked Peter what he and the cast do when they have free time and he answered: “What free time? We don’t have any free time on this one. This one has been a lot of long hours so at the end of the night we go home, close our eyes and then we’re right back in the makeup chair doing it all over again. It’s kind of felt like one long day with naps in between.”
