Peter Cries On ‘Nurse Jackie’ Due To ‘Eclipse’

Peter Facinelli recently admitted that juggling between “Nurse Jackie” and “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse” brought tears to his eyes. The 36-year-old actor opened up about the matter at the current Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour while promoting the second season of his hit Showtime medical drama series.

When asked whether it is hard to switch gears from portraying Carlisle Cullen to Dr. Fitch Cooper, he recalled the moment he broke down in tears. “I did a scene where I was crying with Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith) that came out of me just being emotionally exhausted,” he said. “It wasn’t written that I was crying and, all of a sudden, in the middle of the scene, I broke down and started crying.”

“It felt right for the scene. I did takes that I wasn’t crying in, but they felt like, because I was just dumped by Jackie and there was all this heavy emotions going on, it really worked for the scene,” he further explained. “I think it was just me getting off an airplane, having three hours of sleep and just being that vulnerable. It hit me that hard. But, I enjoyed doing both projects, at the same time.”

Peter Talks About ECLIPSE, BREAKING DAWN, And NURSE JACKIE

Question: Does Carlisle have a lot to do in Eclipse?

PETER FACINELLI: Yes, he does a lot. A lot more than the first two films, for sure. You know, what I like about the third movie is that you get to see a side of Carlisle you haven’t seen before. You actually get to see what his vampire capabilities are because there’s some great battle sequences. It’s my favorite book.

When do you hear about Breaking Dawn?

FACINELLI: I don’t know. Usually the fans know before I do, so I’m sure I’ll see it on the internet before I get the phone call.

Is Twitter part of your job now?

FACINELLI: No, I just enjoy what Twitter is because I can really connect with the fans. It’s a great way to share information with them and it’s also a great way to entertain. I like being able to put a smile on people’s faces and I like being able to also mix that up with sharing information with them that’s important, and also letting them know what I’m doing. I’ve had people come to me and say, “Hey, will you tweet this out?” There’s like pay advertisement stuff. I’m not into that. I like to keep my Twitter pure. I don’t want to sell my followers anything. I want to be able to have that fan base so I can tell them what I’m doing and entertain them.

Peter Plays Two Completely Different Doctors In Nurse Jackie’ And Twilight’

Actor Peter Facinelli is stubborn, especially when it comes to his work. When he was just starting out he refused to play any Italian-American roles, though his parents are from Italy.

“I said, ‘No, I don’t want to do that, because with the last name Facinelli that’s all I’ll do for the rest of my life.’ So there were roles I would just say, ‘No! I don’t want to do that. Let me go play the Irish kid.’”

For a beginning actor, that stand proved a sizable risk. “It’s a lot easier if you do one thing well,” he admits. “They know where to put you. When you’re always having to prove yourself, that you can do something – it’s, ‘Well, I’ve never seen him do it. I don’t know.’ But that’s why I WANT to do it.”

Details On ‘Nurse Jackie’ Season Two

Recently, Ace Showbiz announced that the second season of Nurse Jackie had officially gotten a rundate from Showtime for this spring.

According to them, Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara would be showing back-to-back on March 22nd, with Nurse Jackie showing at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Nurse Jackie chronicles the life of (big surprise) a nurse named Jackie (portrayed by The Sopranos alum Edie Falco) as she tries to stay afloat amidst a life of adultery, drug addiction, and being the best (and probably most controversial) nurse at All Saint’s Hospital in New York. Facinelli portrays Dr. Fitch Cooper, a doctor with a bit of an arrogance problem who can’t seem to please himself (much less others around him).
