Breaking Dawn: Filming in Baton Rouge Ends on a Good Note

The Daily AM Report has an article on the end result of the filming of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It looks at both the money and positive attention that filming such a well known movie has brought in. Read more below:

After four months of shooting, local filming of Twilight: Breaking Dawn parts one and two wrapped last week. The movie is the highest-profile project to film in Baton Rouge and brought new national attention to the area. “The impact from this is remarkable beyond the dollars spent,” says Amy Mitchell-Smith, executive director of the Baton Rouge Film Commission. “Twilight is a pop cultural phenomenon, and this really got the Baton Rouge brand out to the world.” Mitchell-Smith says the city benefited from publicity, such as star Kristen Stewart talking about staying in Baton Rouge in a recent Vogue magazine cover story. According to estimates, Breaking Dawn filming pumped $98.2 million into the local economy. Breaking Dawn part one is set for release Nov. 18; the second movie will come out a year later.

Awards: Peter Facinelli Talks ‘Breaking Dawn’ Filming at the Golden Globes

MTV was lucky enough to get a fantastic interview on the red carpet with Peter Facinelli at tonight’s Golden Globe awards. Check out more below:

When MTV News caught up with Facinelli on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday (January 16), he revealed what Stewart’s Bella is like as a vampire.

“She’s doing really well. She looks fantastic,” he raved about Stewart’s transition to a vampire for the final films in the series. “For some reason, once they put those contact lenses in, you look very statuesque.”

Facinelli wouldn’t go into detail about shooting the last two films in the franchise with director Bill Condon and the rest of the “Breaking Dawn” crew, but he did admit that things have been very action-packed. “We’ve been shooting the last two weeks with a lot of vampires,” he said. “I don’t want to give away too much, but if you’ve read the books, it’s the standoff with lots of vampires in play. There’s like 70 people going through the works at once. It’s a little maddening, but fun.

“We shot pretty much the ending of the two movies the other day,” he added about how much time the cast has left on-set. “But we shoot until mid-April.”

‘It Would Have Been Silly’ To Have New Cullen Kids For ‘Breaking Dawn’

Peter Facinelli’s glad “The Twilight Saga’s” Cullen family will stay together for “Breaking Dawn.”

“I thought that would be really weird to have to act against other people and all of a sudden those are your family members,” the “Twilight” patriarch told AccessHollywood.com of reports that cast members, including Kellen Lutz and Ashley Greene, had been in doubt for the saga’s finale over salary negotiations.

However, all the negotiations have since been settled and the whole Cullen clan will return for the adaptation of the fourth book in the series.

“I’m glad it all worked out,” Peter said. “I think it would have been silly in the end if, or it would have watered down the franchise if all of a sudden we had a whole new family.”

However, he doesn’t mind changing directors, as each film in the series has had a new helmer. “Dreamgirls” director Bill Condon will join the series for “Breaking Dawn,” with David Slade having handled “Eclipse,” which hits theaters this month.

Peter Talks Breaking Dawn

IESB: So are you getting ready for this big epic finale Breaking Dawn, they are saying it’s a two parter, possibly 3D, are they telling you to expect double the time for production?

PF: I haven’t really thought about it much. We just came off of New Moon and I’m still in the gear of finishing up Eclipse, I’m getting ready to go out and promote Eclipse, that’s my favorite book so I am excited to see that one hit the screens. But, I haven’t really put much thought into Breaking Dawn, I think it will be bittersweet but I will be excited to be able to finish up this series and then move on from there.

Please Keep The Sex Scenes In ‘Breaking Dawn’ PG-13

We’ve been waiting for soooo long to see Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart FINALLY make sweet, sweet love in the fourth and final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn, that it didn’t even occur to us that some people (re: parents) might not be so happy at the seductive content.

However, Peter Facinelli—who plays hot vampire patriarch Carlisle Cullen—has made us see the error of our ways.

“I have a 12-year-old daughter [Luca Bella, whose mom is Jennie Garth]. She’s a fan and I’d want her not to feel left out or awkward,” Peter, 37, explained to HollywoodLife.com exclusively Jan. 16 at Lionsgate’s pre-Golden Globes party.

“Hopefully it’s a PG-13 type of situation,” he added. “I’m sure the producers and directors know what they want—and especially what they are doing—but I’m sure they don’t want to alienate fans.”

We like how Peter sees both sides here: he doesn’t want to destroy his daughter’s innocence, yet he wants the flick to remain pure for die-hard fans. His primary loyalty is to his family though, after all—family always comes first to this #1 Dad.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Wishlist: Two Films, Chris Weitz And An ‘Interesting’ Birth Scene

Somehow it seems unsurprising that Peter Facinelli, who got a total reboot of his career with “The Twilight Saga,” would like “Breaking Dawn” to make it to the big screen. When MTV News spoke to Peter at Z100′s Jingle Ball Friday, he shared a full wish-list of things he would like in regards to the fourth (and, according to him, fifth) installments of the series.

First and foremost, Pete would like to see this novel split into two films. “I would love to have them break it into two parts because it’s such a thick book,” he said. “I think that’d be fantastic to split into two, ’cause there’s so much information. Whatever happens, I’m sure it will be good.”

While we have already detailed why we don’t think two movies would be such a good idea for the fluff-filled novel, we do agree with Peter’s director choice (as does Kristen Stewart). “I’d love to see Chris Weitz back,” he said.

He added as to whether there’s actually a chance Chris would agree, “I don’t know. I mean, I know he actually has another film he’s doing right now, so your guess is as good as mine. I’m sure they’ll get somebody very capable. I mean, we’ve had some pretty fantastic directors so far.”

Peter Talks ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’

While he was at the Z100 Jingle Ball this weekend, Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) took time to talk about The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

Among other things, Facinelli seems to agree with a great many Twilight fans that perhaps Chris Weitz would make an excellent director for Breaking Dawn. He, however, is not incredibly optimistic about the prospect since Weitz is supposed to be filming The Gardener very shortly. He has confidence, though, that whoever is selected to helm the project will be great for the taking.
